Sinner, Alcaraz, top Canadians headline entry list for National Bank Open in Toronto


Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz highlight a solid entrance list in the Open Male Tournament of the National Bank of the National Bank of this summer in Toronto.

No. 1 and the number 2 in the world will arrive on the court at the Sobeys stadium for the ATP Masters 1000 event from July 27 to August 7, Tennis Canada announced Wednesday.

Sinner won his first 1000 Masters title in Toronto in the NBO in 2023.

“I really want to be back in Toronto for the National Bank Open,” said the three -time Grand Slam champion in a statement. “This tournament will always take a special place in my heart, since Toronto is where I won my first big title.

“Fans in Canada made victory even more special, and I can’t wait to play in front of them once again.”

The annual Canadian tennis tournament is expanding to a 12 -day format with a main raffle of 96 players for the first time.

Félix Auger-Aliassime de Montreal, Denis Shapovalov by Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Gabriel Diallo de Montreal also appear on the entrance list, which includes the 73 main ATP players.

“Canada, I can’t wait to return home and play in front of all of you,” said Auger-Aliassime. “The atmosphere and fans in Toronto are always incredible, and it is not something that I assume. I will give it everything I have, and I hope we can run together.”

Five main wild cards will also be announced in the coming weeks.

The entrance list for the Women’s Tournament in Montreal will be announced on Thursday.
