Karachi: The operational control of two rapid bus traffic services (BRT), green and oranges lines, has officially delivered the Sindh government on Monday.
A ceremony was held at the Center for Command and Operational Control in the garden area, where the Executive Director of the Pakistan Limited Infrastructure Development Company (PIDCL) Waseem Bajwa transferred the operational control of the Green Line and Orange bus services to the Secretary of Transportation of Sindh Asad Zamin.
The event was also attended by Kamal Day, managing director of the Transits Mass authority of Sindh and other senior BRT services officials of the Green and Orange Line.
“The transfer of the bus services of the Green and Orange Line to the Government of Sindh is a significant step to further organize the public transport network,” said Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, in a statement. “It is the commitment of the Sindh government to undertake all possible measures to improve and maintain these bus services to provide the best travel facilities for citizens.”
He said the government was working to improve the performance of these services through modern technology and routine maintenance.
The minister also declared that an efficient and integrated urban transport system is being developed in Karachi, with future plans to integrate BRT lines with other public transport systems.
