The Sindh Police asked the provincial government to approach his Baluchistan counterpart for the arrest of the tribal leader Shahzain Marri on Monday, whose guards were held last week for allegedly torturing a citizen in Karachi.
The development occurs after the police in the southern zone of Karachi arrested several “guards”, which were seen in a viral video that attacked two occupants of a car in the area of the city ship basin. While the police had claimed to arrest seven guards, a subsequent document written by the Police establishes that five guards were arrested.
The main suspect was identified as Shahzain Marri, a grandson of the late nationalist leader of Baloch, Nawab Khair Bux Marri, according to the Deputy General Inspector (DIG) Syed Asad Raza. The guards worked for Marri, who, along with his security men, had tortured a citizen before fleeing to Baluchistan.
The Inspector General of Sindh (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon wrote a letter to the Chief Provincial Interior Secretary today, asking the Sindh government to occupy the issue of arrests of two suspects, Marri and Ghulam Qadir, with its counterpart of Baluchistan.

According to the excavation letter, five security guards were arrested, while Qadir’s location, another suspect, had been tracked to Baluchistan.
The arrest had been made after Barkat Ali Soomro, an offices carrier of the popular youth organization Sindh, presented a first information report (FIR) with the police station of the ship basin.
According to the excavation letter, Soomro presented the FIR against suspects of “five/six armed strangers” for allegedly defeating him and his friend Waqas Ahmed with a “gun butt”, in addition to threatening them at 3 am on February 19.
He said Soomro was going with Ahmed in his car when a Jeep of Surf came from behind when they arrived at a service road near the ship basin. Although they “give way” to the car, the jeep “driver to reverse[d] The car hitting their car and 5/6 unknown people left the vehicle, the letter added.
Citing the FIR, the letter said that the suspects were supposedly “intoxicated by alcohol, attacked against him and his friend, threatened them by dire consequences and hit them with the butt of the gun,” hurting Soomro.
A video that went viral last week showed a four -by -four vehicle against a high car in Boat Basin. As seen in the video, several armed men left the vehicle and began hitting Soomro and Waqas.
Dig Raza had said on Friday that operations were also underway to arrest other people involved in the incident.
He said that “modern weapons” had been recovered from the possession of the arrested guards, and added that the weapons were being examined to see if they had licenses.
