QUETTA: Sibi divisional commissioner Syed Zahid Shah survived an armed attack while traveling in Kachhi district on Thursday night.
According to officials, Shah was returning to Sibi after an official visit to various areas of tehsil Lehri. As their convoy approached the Haji Shar area, unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.
However, the Levies guards escorting the commissioner’s convoy quickly took up positions and returned fire. An intense exchange of gunfire ensued before the attackers fled the scene.
Haji Shar security forces and local officials rushed to the scene and began investigating the incident.
“Commissioner Syed Zahid Shah and other officials traveling with him were unharmed and reached Sibi under tight security,” the officials told Dawn.
