Pakistan players Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam were fined by the International Crickt Council (ICC) on Thursday for misconduct in their match against South Africa.
Shaheen obstructed the South African batter Matthew Breetzke when he took a single in Wednesday’s game in Karachi, which resulted in physical contact and a heated exchange of words.
The CPI said it would be fined with 25 percent of its party rate for “inappropriate physical contact.”
The statement added that Shakeel and the substitute gardener Ghulam would have 10 percent of his party tariff docked by celebrating Batter Temba Bavuma too closely.
The South African pattern Bavuma was exhausted by 82 in the total of its 352-5 team.
Shakeel and Ghulam were declared guilty of “using the language, actions or gestures that belittle or could cause an aggressive reaction from a batter in their dismissal during an international party.”
Pakistan pursued the highest objective they have faced in the one-day internationals, reaching the victory in 355-4 that established a final of the Triad series between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi on Friday.
The matches are a warm -up for the Champions Trophy of eight teams that starts next week: the largest international tournament in Pakistan in almost three decades.
The ICC said that Aphridi, Shakeel and Ghulam had accepted their sanctions and also received a point of demerit in each of their disciplinary records.
After the game, Shaheen admitted that he intended to interrupt Breetzke’s flow.
“I wanted to bother him because we wanted Wickts at that time,” Shaheen said in a mixed area with the media. “When he took a single, he went out to me, so I went out to him.”
But Breetzke said the exchanged shortened “was not serious.”
“Basically, I showed frustration for the shot that I played and Shaheen thought I told him something,” he said. “He came to me and, naturally, I return to him.”
“We are friends, everything is fine,” he added.
As the three players admitted the crimes and accepted the sanctions proposed by the referee of the David Boon party, no formal hearings were held.
