Washington – Several main FBI executives promoted by former director Christopher Wray received on Thursday that they would resign or retire or be fired, according to multiple current and previous officials of the office.
The purge of senior officials includes approximately half a dozen “executive assistants”, which are some of the senior directors of the office that supervise criminal investigations, national and cyber security. They are public career officials, which means that they cannot be fired without cause.

At least two chiefs of field offices in Miami and Las Vegas were also attacked, the sources said.
“FBIHQ informed me today that the executive leadership of the Department of Justice plans to say goodbye to the FBI lists, along with several other FBI executives, as soon as Monday morning”, the special agent, the special agent in charge of the Las Vegas de FBI field, he said in a note obtained by NBC News. “They did not give me any justification for this decision, which, as you can imagine, has been a shock.”
NBC News previously reported that officials had been offered the possibility of degradation or reallocation, but since then he learned that this was not the case in most cases.
A current FBI official told NBC News that the measure would be “enormously harmful”, while a former official who is talking to FBI’s people said there is much anger because affected employees are not considered political figures in any way.
The FBI declined to comment on staff movements, which CNN first reported.
Wray, whom President Donald Trump appointed for his 10 -year position in 2017, resigned at the end of the Biden administration.
The movements in the FBI come in the middle of a wave of endings in the first 10 days of the Trump administration.
Trump fired 18 general inspectors last week, including the guards for state departments, defense and work and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Trump defended the shots, saying: “Some were unfair or were not doing the job.”

The Trump administration has also fired career lawyers in the Department of Justice who were involved in prosecution, which gives it alarms for their good in the threats of compensation against those who have challenged their conduct.
Trump has chosen Kash Patel to lead the FBI in his second term. Patel said at a Senate confirmation audience on Thursday that it is confirmed that the FBI will not take remuneration measures.
