The president of the Senate, Yousaf Raza Gilani, issued production orders for the senators of PTI ejaz Chaudhry and Aon Abbas Buppi on Friday, instructing the authorities to guarantee their presence in the session of the tomorrow’s Senate.
This was not the first production order issued for Chaudhry, which is imprisoned in the Kot Lakhpat de Lahore prison. In January, Gilani issued a production order for the PTI senator, which has been imprisoned for at least 19 months, so that he could attend the Senate session on January 14. However, Chaudhry did not appear in the Senate session. Opposition legislators could be seen transporting banners with images of the disappeared senator during the process.
Meanwhile, the Senate was informed a day ago that Buppi was arrested for illegal deer hunting charges in Cholistan. Immediately after the suspension of the question time, the opposition leader in the Senate Shibli Faraz said that the police arrested Buppi during a raid in his fine residence. He asked if an adequate procedure for the arrest was followed and an intimidation prior to the Senate Secretariat was transmitted.
According to production orders, available with Dawn.comChaudhry was currently in the judicial blockade in Kot Lakhppp’s jail while Buppi was under the custody of the Bahawalpur Police.
Gilani summoned both senators to attend the Senate session on Saturday at 11:30 am under rule 84 of the Rules of Business Procedure and Behavior in the Senate, 2012.
“The honorable president considers necessary the presence of [Senators Chaudhry and Buppi] During the remaining sessions of the current 347th session of the Pakistan Senate ”, orders are read.
The recipients of the Order, including the Secretary of the Interior and the Punjab and Islamabad officials, were aimed at producing Senators Chaudhary and Buppi “at the beginning of each session of said session” before the sergeant of weapons of the Secretariat of the Senate, and added that they would be returned to the custody after the conclusion of the session.
Going to journalists today in Karachi, the president of the Senate said he had acted “for the book” throughout his 30 -year political career.
“This is not the first time I am a member. I have been parliamentary for 30 years, and I have served for the book. If I do something, it is for the book, ”said Gilani in response to a question about whether he was angry with the government for not acting in his previous production order for Chaudhry.
“If an honorable member is in jail, then, according to the rules, I can issue a production order,” said the president. “If a production order is not applied, it ruins the environment in Parliament,” he added.
“I saw interview programs … where people said that a member (Buppi) was collected,” he added. “I will tell the Federal Government and the Punjab government to produce it, it must attend Parliament. If I don’t attend tomorrow, I will issue a production order. “
Meanwhile, the BUPPI media team published a statement in its X account, qualifying the arrest “a false case due to political revenge.”
“Senator Aon Abbas Bappi has been sent to judicial custody and his bond has been rejected,” said the media team in an update on the situation of the legislator.
