Senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Ten., Postulates for governor, announced Wednesday, promising to help her state be the “United States conservative leader” for coming generations.
Blackburn, who would be the first woman governor of the state if he wins, leaned strongly in his support for President Donald Trump in a brief video published in X announcing his campaign. The first images in the video are from the president, before Blackburn takes care of declare: “Trump has returned, the United States is blessed and Tennessee, better than ever.”
“Here in the voluntary state, we always lead the way. And that is why I am announcing my candidacy for the governor,” he says, promising to bring more jobs and energy production to the state, and adds that he plans “to deliver a world -class education for our children by empowering parents, not the deep state.”
It was framed as an unconditional conservative policy that will carry out these values as governor, promising to deport illegal foreigners “if airplanes, trains or spacecraft” are needed; promising “value life”; Stirring the debate on transgender athletes who participate in women’s sports saying “we will define our children in the way God made them.”
“I love Tennessee, I believe in Tennesseaans, and I am ready to deliver the type of conservative leadership that will ensure that our State is the United States conservative leader for this generation and the next,” he added.
Blackburn will join a primary that includes representative John Rose, who has lent his $ 5 million campaign to boost his offer. The current state governor, Bill Lee, cannot work again due to the deadlines.
The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegesh, has also discussed the idea of running for a political position next year in Tennessee, NBC News reported last week, citing two people who have spoken with him about it. A spokesman for the Department of Defense denied that he was considering an offer and others in the orbit of Hegesh told NBC News that he has no plans to run for a position.
Blackburn is an outstanding force in republican policy in the state, after having served in a position elected there for a quarter of a century, he assumed high profile roles in the Senate on issues such as abortion and the prohibition of transgender athletes of women’s sports, and cultivated a relationship with Trump. The president has not yet intervened in the race.
If Blackburn won, he would have to vacate his seat to which he was re -elected in November. As governor, he would have the ability to name his temporal successor before a special choice to fill the seat.
Blackburn is the third senator to announce a governor race this year after Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville and the Colorado Democratic Senator Michael Bennet.
