Senator Cory Booker said Sunday that he would not accept campaign donations of the technological tycoon Elon Musk, but urged Trump’s former advisor to “get involved in this moment in a more substantive way” in the impulse of the Democrats against the bill of expenses backed by the Republican Party.
“This bill is disastrous for our long -term economy,” said Booker “Meet The Press” of NBC News. “This is an American problem, and I welcome Elon Musk not to my campaign. I welcome it at this time, not to sit down and simply shoot tweets, get involved in this moment in a more substantive way to press the people and senators of Congress not to do this.”
When asked directly if I would ever accept Musk campaign funds, Booker said: “I would not accept money from Elon Musk for my campaign, but I would support anyone, including Elon Musk, presenting resources at this time so that more Americans know” about the bill.
Booker’s comments occur when other Democrats, such as the representative of Khanna in California, have floated Musk who welcomed the Democratic Party with the Musk after a dispute between President Donald Trump and the CEO of Tesla and Spacex exploded in public view last week.
“Ultimately, we should try to convince him that the Democratic Party has more of the values with which he agrees,” Khanna told Politico last week after Musk and Trump fired a series of publications on social networks that were criticized with each other.
The fall began after Musk called the Budget Law as an “unpleasant abomination” in an X publications. In subsequent publications in Truth Social, the president accused Musk of “Using Delgado” and said “went crazy.”
Later, Musk accused Trump of “ingratitude” in another publication in X after he spent $ 250 million promoting Trump’s campaign in 2024 and accused Trump of the links to the deceased sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein in a position now eliminated.
On Saturday, in a phone call with NBC News, Trump said he does not want to repair his relationship with Musk after his public dispute.
The president also answered a direct question about what could happen if Musk decided to support the Democrats financially in the mid -period elections of 2026, days after Musk wrote in a position on X: “In November of next year, we shot all politicians who betrayed the US people”, appearing to refer to the Republicans who voted for the project of expenses backed Republican in the camera.
“If you do, you will have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump told NBC News, adding that there could be “serious consequences.”
In May, the Republicans of the House of Representatives approved a bill of internal policies called “a great law of bill” that would extend the tax cuts approved in the first Trump administration, would increase the funds for border security and eliminate federal taxes on tips and the payment of overtime. Musk and some Republicans of the Senate have expelled the bill for the estimated effects it could have on federal debt and deficit, although Trump’s Republicans and the Chamber have minimized those concerns.
“More Americans have to understand that if this bill is approved, the average Americans will see that their costs shoot as this president again pushes the legislation that is indicative of his chaos, corruption and cruelty towards Americans,” Booker said Sunday.
