A destructive Tim Seifert said that New Zealand did a short job of its 129-run target to win the last Twenty20 against Pakistan for eight WICKETS on Wednesday and take the 4-1 series.
Seifert, who made an undefeated 97 of 38 deliveries, established the big tone in Wellington with 18 of the first of Jahandad Khan after being beaten in the body with the first ball.
First game partner Finn Allen continued with 14 in the second of Mohammad Ali.
When Jahandad returned in the sixth on Seifert, it was even more belligerent when he gave up 25, including three six.
“After they almost hit me in the head with that first ball, I thought there was only one way of playing,” said Seifert.
“Some shots follow your way and you are supporting and support your skills and when you get a game, you commit 100 percent and try to knock down that bowling player.”
He hit 10 Sixes in his entries and finished the game with three consecutive Sixes of Shadab Khan bowling.
The kiwis lost only two wickts while chasing the target in just 10 overs. Both wickts were taken by the left arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who finished the game with 2-6 figures in their 2 overs.
Allen compiled a brilliant 27 of 12 deliveries, including five four and six, before he was the first to fall in seventh place when New Zealand had reached 93.
Mark Chapman had a short stay and went for three before Seifert and Daryl Mitchell (two outside) brought the hosts home when they finished 131-2.
Pakistan’s captain Salman Agha said that the positive for him in a series on the LOP side was the experience obtained by his young team.
“Obviously they (New Zealand) were outstanding and you have to prove them. They simply surpassed us throughout the series,” he said.
“But we have some positive aspects and we will take it and advance. We will support them. They will have more games and have experience and will come well.”
Pakistan, hitting first, fought before reaching 128-9 on the back of a medium order rally of Salman and Shadab Khan.
The couple joined 52-5 and put 54 for the sixth wickt, refusing to be pressed by the New Zealand rhythm attack that dominated the first half of the tickets.
Shadab put 28 of 20 deliveries, including five limits, while Salman obtained 51 of 39.
Both fell to Jimmy Neesham, the selection of New Zealand bowling players with impressive 5-22 figures, their first five Wickt bag in T20is, of its four overs.
Jacob Duffy, who took 2-18, began Pakistan’s batting defeat when he claimed the first Wickt in the second with the elimination of Hasan Nawaz for his third duck in the series.
He added Omair Yousuf in his followers while Pakistan struggled to cope with Duffy’s swing and sewing movement, as well as the rebound generated by Will O’Rourke and Ben Sears.
New Zealand, who won the raffle, made a change for the game with Sears arriving at Zak Foulkes.
Pakistan made five changes with Omair, Usman Khan, Jahandad, Sufyan Moqim and Mohammad Ali, all entering.
The teams now move to an international series of one day that begins in Napier on Saturday.
