Security forces killed at least three terrorists on Sunday in retaliation after one of the attackers blew himself up at the main gate of the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Balochistan’s Nokkundi, according to a statement issued by FC Balochistan South spokesperson.
The statement said that the terrorists of Fitna-al-Khawarij “He attempted the attack.”
Fitna-al-Khawarij is a term the state uses to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The FC spokesperson’s statement said that one of the “suicide bombers” blew himself up at the main gate of the headquarters, following which the rapid response force personnel retaliated and killed three terrorists.
He added that security forces were carrying out a clearance operation and that “the last of the terrorists will also be” eliminated soon.
According to reports from the scene, at least six armed attackers had entered the headquarters after one of the terrorists blew himself up at the entrance.
Meanwhile, a check post in Gurmakan area of Panjgur district was also reportedly attacked. According to the latest reports, shooting continues as security forces try to repel the attack.
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan, post-TTP. ended a ceasefire with the government in November 2022. With the end of the ceasefire, he had promised to attack security forces, police and law enforcement personnel.
On Saturday, seven blasts rocked Quetta and Dera Murad Jamali in Balochistan, with one blast blowing up a section of railway track near the provincial capital and suspending train traffic to other parts of the country.
The first explosion occurred near a police checkpoint on Quetta’s Qambrani Road, where unidentified attackers threw a grenade.
Police said the second explosion took place soon after on the same road, when gunmen detonated a motorcycle carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) while a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) vehicle was passing by, carrying bomb disposal squad personnel to the site of the first explosion.
“The miscreants planted an improvised explosive device on the motorcycle and detonated it with a remote control when the CTD vehicle was passing through the area,” Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Capt (retd) Asif Khan said. Sunriseadding that the CTD vehicle escaped the explosion and no casualties were reported in any of the attacks.
SSP Khan said two more explosions were reported in the evening. “An explosion occurred on the railway tracks near Lohr Karez on the outskirts of Quetta, blowing up the main line connecting Quetta with other parts of the country.”
In another incident, unidentified motorcyclists hurled a grenade at the city’s Manzoor Shaheed police station, but the device did not explode. A bomb disposal team later defused it.
Later, unidentified assailants threw another grenade in the Kechi Beg area at a police patrol. The grenade exploded, but no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, gunmen also attacked a police vehicle at DC Chowk in Dera Murad Jamali by hurling a grenade.
The device did not explode and was defused by the bomb disposal team.
In yet another incident on Saturday night, unidentified gunmen attacked the camp of a construction company in Sariab area of Quetta.
