Nueva Delhi: Congress leader, Tikaram Jully, caused outrage on Thursday when referring to veteran Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit, as a “second grade star” who “spent his best moment.”
Jully made the comment during an argument at the Rajasthan Assembly, where the leader of the Congress questioned the benefit of the recently controlled IIFA event to the State. He also questioned the government’s expense, saying: “In the name of IIFA, more than RS 100 million rupees of public money were spent. If he saw the hoarding, it was just an IIFA promotion and not Rajasthan.”
“What did Rajasthan from IIFA get? The stars that came for the event did not visit any tourist place in the state,” said Jully.
“And what a great name of the industry appeared? Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, all the others were second -degree stars. No other first -degree actor came,” he added.
When the members of the house opposed their comments, Jully also said: “Now, Madhuri Dixit is a second -degree star, his best moment has left. It was a star in the times of his films such as ‘Dil’ and ‘Beta’.”
BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya He defended the importance of the event, highlighting that “Rajasthan organized an event of the IIFA stature, which generally takes place in Mega cities around the world.” He highlighted the global exhibition and the benefits of tourism that the event brought to the State.
This controversy follows another recent incident that involves the spokesman for Congress, Shama Mohamed, who faced criticism for making derogatory comments about Captain of Indian Cricket Rohit Sharma on social networks.
In a tweet now eliminated, she wrote: “Fat for an athlete! And, of course, the most impressive captain he has had!”
He later retracted his comments and congratulated the team after the victory of the Champions Trophy of India.
