Nueva Delhi: The second lot of 266 people was transferred by plane to India after being rescued from the scam call centers in Southeast Asia.
In a publication publication about X, the spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said that the Indian embassies worked with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand to ensure their release and facilitate their repatriation
“The Government of India yesterday organized the safe repatriation of 266 Indians by an IAF plane, which were released from the cyber crime centers in Southeast Asia. On Monday, 283 Indians were repatriated in a similar way,” said Jaiswal.
“The Indian embassies worked with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand to ensure their liberation and facilitate their repatriation,” he added.
This occurs days after 266 men and 17 women were evacuated by an Indian military plane C-17.
An Indian military plane C-17 evacuated on Monday 266 men and 17 women trapped on the border of Thai-Myanmar for weeks after being rescued from the scam call centers in the Myowaddy of Myanmar.
The authorities of Myanmar, under the pressure of the ally of China, have taken energetic measures in recent weeks in illegal online fraud operations that have flourished in the border lands without law of the country.
Around 7,000 workers from at least two dozen countries have been released, most of them Chinese, but many have been languishing in miserable conditions in temporary camps on the border of Thai-Myanmar.
The authorities say that many victims were recruited through social networks and false employment agencies, particularly pointing to those with IT skills. These scams, often operating in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, promise lucrative wages and attractive benefits. Once the recruits arrive, their passports are confiscated, and remain in strongly saved compounds, forced to execute online scams under the threat of violence.
Mea also reiterated their caution so that Indian citizens verify the credentials of foreign employers before making job offers.
“The government of India has been making sustained efforts to ensure liberation and Repatriation of Indian citizens Attracted to several countries in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, with false job offers. Subsequently, these people dedicated themselves to cyber crime and participated in other fraudulent activities in scam centers operating in regions along the border of Myanmar-Thailand, “Mea said in a statement.
“The Government of India wishes to reiterate its caution, circulated before time in time through notices and publications in social networks, on such rackets. It is once again advised to the Indian citizens who verify the credentials of foreign employers through missions abroad and verify the background of the recruitment agents and the companies before receiving a job offer,” he added.
