A missing body search operation continued for the second day after a Karachi couple drowned in a boat capitalization accident in Skardu, authorities said Wednesday.
Skardu is a popular tourist destination for local and international visitors. However, accidents are quite common due to the difficult land and the lack of modern infrastructure.
A declaration of Rescue 1122 said: “Two people disappeared in a tragic boat overturning incident in the beautiful Skardu Kachora area. Rescue 1122 divers and Skardu rescue personnel have recovered the body of a woman after taking immediate measures, while the search for the other missing person is still ongoing.
The search and rescue operation was ongoing under the supervision of the Islamuddin emergency officer, he added.

“Three operators and a 15 -year -old boy survived, while a woman’s body was recovered and transferred to the combined Skardu Military Hospital,” he said, added that a search operation was underway to locate her husband’s body.
Of the three operators, one was local and two were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said. “The boat operators have been arrested for negligence research,” he added.
In June, four people drowned while a child remained missing after a boat that transported tourists overturned in Lake Shahi Bagh in the Kalam area of KP’s Swat.
On May 16, four tourists from Gujrat disappeared between Gilgit and Skardu. Subsequently they were located on the shore of the Indo River, near the Istak village in the Skardu Round Valley.
