The search for a missing plane flying from the east coast of Canada to Greenland has entered its second day.
Naviair, a Danish state-owned company that provides air traffic services, told CBC News it received a report around 4 p.m. local time on Saturday that a single-engine plane had gone missing.
On Sunday, Naviair confirmed that the missing plane is registered under a US company and was flying from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, with one person on board.
The search resumed on Sunday by boat. The aerial search has been delayed due to low clouds. Search efforts were suspended Saturday night due to poor visibility and weather conditions.
The crews are concentrated in the mountainous area of Sermitsiaq, located 15 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.
The city of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, located in central Labrador, is approximately 850 kilometers northwest of St. John’s. The Labrador Sea separates Labrador from Greenland.
