Sean “Diddy “‘s ex-girlfriend of ComBs, Virginia Huynh, who was scheduled to testify in the federal trial of the Hip-Hop Mogul, but left before the procedures began, has written a letter to a New York judge urging his release on bail.
Huynh was identified as “Victim-3” in the broad accusation of the federal government against combs, 55, who was acquitted in early July of extortion conspiracy and positions of sex trafficking, but convicted of two positions of interstate prostitution.
In the letter, Huynh, identifying publicly by name for the first time, wrote that he wanted to “share my observations about [Combs’] character and to respectfully request that the court allows its bail release while the case continues ”.
“I think it is important that the court has a complete image of who is beyond the accusations,” Huynh said in the letter of a page, which was presented by the combs legal team on Sunday.
Huynh wrote that his relationship with combs was “not always perfect”, harassed by “ups and downs” and “errors.” But over time, he wrote, “he made visible efforts to become a better person and address the damage he had caused.”
At the end of his relationship, he added: “He embodied an energy of love, patience and kindness that was remarkably different from his past behavior.”
“May I know,” Huynh told Judge Arun Subramanian, “has not been violent for many years, and has committed to being a first father.”
She said she does not see combs as “a danger to me or for this community”, and that their children “depend on him for emotional and financial support.”
“Allowing him to be at home will also support the healing process for all involved,” Huynh wrote at the close. “I respectfully ask you to consider these factors by deciding your eligibility for liberation.”
Nicholas Biase, spokesman for the United States Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern District of New York, declined to comment on Huynh’s letter.
In the days before the combs trial began, the United States government prosecutors said they were struggling to contact “Victim-3” and their lawyer. Ultimately, he did not testify in the successful seven -week test.
The jury members in the case heard testimony of two from other former combs friends: R&B singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman mentioned by the pseudonym “Jane”. The prosecution called more than 30 witnesses, including former assistants.
Ventura testified about the alleged abuse he experienced during his 10 -year relationship with combs. She accused him of physical and sexual aggression, and a security video of the Peines Hotel was shown to the jurors that hit her in a hall in 2016.
Combs, who declared himself innocent, faced five criminal charges: a position of extortion conspiracy; two positions of sex trafficking for fraud or coercion; and two transport positions to participate in prostitution.
Subramanian denied the request for combs bail of the day the jury verdict entered, saying that it would be impossible for Bad Boy Records to prove that it does not represent a danger.
Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
