Seahawks trade star WR DK Metcalf to Steelers for second-round pick: Sources

The Pittsburgh Steelers finally have their wide largest game receiver.

The Seattle Seahawks are sending to the twice DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh twice for at least one second round selection, sources said to the agreement to Associated Press on Sunday night. The sources spoke with the AP on anonymity because the agreement was not official.

Metcalf had requested an exchange of Seahawks last week. His exodus arrives during a tumultuous stretch for Seattle, which released Tyler Lockett, the second leading receiver of all the franchise time, last Wednesday and then gave Geno Smith to the field marshal to the Raiders of Las Vegas on Friday night.

Metcalf, 27, will also receive a new five -year agreement worth $ 150 million, which gives Pittsburgh the type of open high -profile open receiver that the club has not had since Antonio Brown was changed to the Raiders in March 2019.

Metcalf has received at least 900 yards in each of its six seasons, although it ended with the five touchdown receptions in 2024. It has the size (6 feet 4) to jump on the defenders and the speed to run for them.

The next question for Steelers to answer is who will throw the ball into Metcalf. General Manager Omar Khan said at the NFL combines that all options are on the table.

Even so, Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, who combined to take Pittsburgh to a 10-7 record last season, would seem to make more sense in the short term.

The president of the team, Art Rooney II, and coach Mike Tomlin have said that any of the players could be an option in 2025, although given the youth of the fields, mobility and possibly a lower sale price, it can obtain a better adjustment. Even so, the Steelers have had more than six weeks to sign any of the players again and had not yet done less than 72 hours before the new year of the League begins.

However, adding one of the most imposing physically imposing passes receptors in the League in Metcalf could make Pittsburgh more attractive to some of the other field marshal about to enter the market.

Metcalf could also become a mentor of the George Pickens receptor talented but mercurial. Pickens, 23, is about to enter the last year of his rookie agreement and, although he has shown flashes of brilliance, he has often mixed it with petulance episodes. Steelers have remained optimistic in pickens despite their false steps, although it is not sure how Pickens could react not to receive more billing.

Anyway, it goes with Pickens, the arrival of Metcalf marks a bold step for Khan, who chased Brandon Aiyuk of San Francisco last summer just for Aiyuk to sign again with the 49ers. The Steelers never found another objective established to put opposite pickens, and the offensive went up to the section. Pittsburgh dropped its last five games, including a defeat in Baltimore in the first round of the playoffs.
