The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia launched on Thursday an awareness kit on health, including one in Urdu, to promote the health and well -being of the Pilgrims of the HAJ.
Haj, one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, is carried out every year by millions of Muslims around the world. Pakistan receives one of the highest Haj quotas in Saudi Arabia.
In an X publication, the Saudi Ministry of Health said the kit was available in eight languages. “In all languages, we care about the health of pilgrims. Explore the health consciousness kit to promote health and well -being among pilgrims,” said the post.
The multilingual kit contained essential information for pilgrims, such as: prevent heat-related diseases and handle health in extreme conditions, the required vaccines (meningitis, COVID-19, polyomyelitis and yellow fever), manage chronic diseases and access free health services during HAJ. It also included short videos, social media assets and printable posters.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed the Annual Haj agreement in January, which would see 17,210 Pakistani pilgrims this year.
On Saturday, the mission of Pakistan Haj welcomed 38,229 pilgrims in Saudi Arabia (Madina and Makkah) under the government’s scheme since the beginning of the flight operation prior to the haha of a month on April 29.
The religious meeting has seen a large number of deaths in recent years, with the number of deaths during the pilgrimage of the HAJ last year for a total of 1,301 people. The Saudi Arabia Minister of Health had said that the deaths were caused by pilgrims “to walk long distances under direct sunlight without adequate shelter or comfort.”
It was reported that at least 35 Pakistani were among those who died during the pilgrimage in 2024.
Earlier this month, the Government introduced additional facilities for pilgrims such as mine tents with air conditioning, family accommodation, optimized luggage systems and high quality transport.
To safeguard the health and well -being of pilgrims, around 400 medical and paramedical officers would be deployed in dedicated health centers. These include a well -equipped hospital and nine dispensaries in Makkah, along with a hospital and two dispensaries in Madinah.
