The Sindh government arrested the leader of the Baloch Jakjehti (byc) Sammi Deen Baloch and four other days on Tuesday for 30 days under the maintenance of public order (MPO) after the group’s protest in Karachi.
Karachi police arrested several others on Monday for violating section 144 and used force to break the BYC protest against the recent arrests of his leadership and an offensive in his sitting Quetta.
The Byc had announced a protest at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) against the “illegal detention” of its key leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, which was arrested on Saturday along with 16 other activists from his protest camp in Quetta, one day after affirming that three Protectors had died due to police action.
In Karachi, Artillery Maidan’s police reserved Sammi and five other activists detained under section 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) for violating section 144.
According to Tuesday’s order for the Department of Origin of the Government of Sindh, a copy of which it is available with Dawn.comThe Sindh (PGI) police inspector had recommended having recommended a 30 -day detention period for Sammi, Razzak Ali, Abdul Wahab Baloch, Shehdad and Sultan.
The order declared that the five were “instigating [the] Public to block roads and organize sitting in Karachi, which can disturb peace and tranquility and can create serious problems of law and order. ”
He continued to say that the presence of the five people “is likely to represent a serious threat to public security and that it can cause violation of peace and tranquility.”
The order also said that the Sindh government “has enough reasons to believe that the five people”[should] be arrested and detained for a period of 30 days from the date of arrest. ”
Its custody will be placed under the central prison of Karachi Superintendent Mayor, reads in the order.
MPO will be challenged tomorrow, says Sammi’s lawyer
On Tuesday afternoon, Sammi’s lawyer Jibran Nasir confirmed that he had been confined in the central prison under the MPO issued and stayed there for 30 days.
“The wise judicial magistrate unloaded the five defendants in the signed registered yesterday,” Jibran said in an X publication.
“As soon as the defendant was discharged and was ordered to be released, the police began to stir the order of MPO. While Sammi surrendered and deliberately gave him his arrest, the whereabouts of four other Lala Wahab, Raziq, Sultan and Shahdad,” he said.
Jibran added that he would challenge the MPO in the Super Court of Sindh tomorrow.
Other protesters arrested on Monday were identified as Abdul Wahab, Mustafa Ali, Shahzad Rab, Hamza Iftikhar and Sultan Hamal.
The FIR was recorded in a policeman’s complaint declared that some 35-40 men and women arrived in Fawara Chowk and tried to enter the red zone. The plaintiff said that the police tried to avoid them, but the protesters allegedly entered the sensitive area by force.
Police took measures and arrested Sammi, Abdul Wahab and four other nominated people, while others fled.
Before the protest, the commissioner imposed section 144, and all the roads that lead to Karachi Press Club, the place of protest, were blocked with the help of temporary barriers.
This caused mass traffic jams in the city center, where citizens remained trapped for hours and many of them were seen breaking their fast on the road.
Counterprotetes
On the other hand, two separated protests were made in the nearby area, where the participants held banners and sang slogans against the Byc, as well as the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BL) forbidden.
However, it was not clear in which arrangements the counterprotestors were organized despite the imposition of section 144.
One of those protests was carried out outside the KPC, with the participants with banners that read “a link to RAW: Bla and Byc”, referring to the research and analysis wing of the Indian Intelligence Agency.
More people had met at a service station near the Zainab market, with one of the banners that said “two sides of the same currency: Bla and Byc”.
Some banners transported by protesters in the Fawara Chowk mentioned the Council of Pakistan Ulema as organizer.
Another manifestation was also made to show solidarity with the Armed Forces near the Zainab market. The videos of the protest showed the protesters singing slogans against the leadership of Byc and Bla.
The deputy inspector (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza said Dawn.com: “Some people were organizing a counterprotestation in Fawara Chowk; they dispersed. No one is allowed to organize public protests or assemblies in the light of notification by Commissioner Karachi.”
