The main diplomats of Russia and Ukraine used a high -level conference in Turkey on Saturday to once again exchange accusations of violating a tentative American negotiation agreement to stop strikes on energy infrastructure, underlining the challenges of negotiating the end of the 3 -year war.
The two Foreign Ministers spoke in separate events in the Annual Diplomacy Forum of Antalya, one day after the American envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss peace perspectives. The European allies of Ukraine promised thousands of millions of dollars on Friday to help Kyiv continue fighting Russia’s invasion.
While Moscow and kyiv in principle agreed last month to implement a high limited fire of 30 days, they issued contradictory statements shortly after their separated conversations with US officials in Saudi Arabia. They differed at the start of stopping the strikes, and alleged almost motionless infractions on the other side.
“The Ukrainians have been attacking us from the beginning, every day that passes, perhaps with two or three exceptions,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, adding that Moscow would provide US agencies. UU., Turkey and international a list of kyiv attacks during the last three weeks.
A representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry told the state media separately on Saturday that Moscow has been sharing intelligence with the United States with respect to more than 60 alleged violations of the Kiev agreement.
Lavrov insisted on Saturday that Russia had attached to the terms of the agreement.
His Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, fiercely challenged that statement, saying that Russia had launched “almost 70 missiles, more than 2,200 drones (exploiting) and more than 6,000 air bombs guided in Ukraine, mainly in civilians”, since they accepted the limited pause on the attacks.
“This is clearly shown to the world who wants peace and wants war,” he said.
Russian forces have the advantage in Ukraine, and kyiv warned that Moscow is planning a new spring offensive to increase pressure on their enemy and improve their negotiation position.
Ukraine has supported a broader proposal of high the Fire in the US, but Russia has effectively blocked it by imposing long -range conditions. European governments have accused Putin of dragging their feet.
“Russia has to move” on the way to end the war, published the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on social networks on Friday. He said the war is “terrible and meaningless.”
Lavrov reiterated on Saturday that a possible agreement backed by the United States, also discussed in Saudi Arabia, to guarantee safe navigation for commercial ships in the black Sea could not be implemented until the restrictions are high on Russian access to shipping insurance, coupling ports and international payment systems.
The details of the possible agreement were not released, but it seemed to mark another attempt to guarantee the safe shipment of the Black Sea after a 2022 agreement that was negotiated by the UN and Turkey, but arrested by Russia the following year.
The Ukraine Air Force said that a second F-16 combat plane supplied by Western allies and its pilot, Pavlo Ivanov, 26, killed, has been lost.
Ukraine general personnel said that the F-16 crashed while repeating a Russian missile strike. The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, offered condolences to the Ivanov family, saying: “We are proud of our soldiers. We will give a strong and adequate response.”
Ukraine said that the first F-16 was shot down last August, after intercepting three Russian missiles and a drone.
Since last July, Ukraine has received multiple lots of Denmark’s combat aircraft and the Netherlands, with the approval of the United States. Its total number has not been revealed.
Meanwhile, the Russian drones killed at least two civilians in the southern region of Kherson in Ukraine on Saturday, according to local governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
