The New College of Florida will be the host of the actor, comedian and influential of welfare of right Russell Brand on Saturday, days after he was accused of rape and sexual aggression in the United Kingdom.
The weekend event at school in Sarasota is ready to be a conversation about freedom of expression and cultural power.
“While the justice system addresses other issues independently, our responsibility is to guarantee a space where ideas, especially those that invite dialogue, such as the issue of canceling culture and freedom of expression, can be explored with respect, critical thinking and intellectual integrity,” said Alexandra Nicole Islas, director of public policy events of New College, in a statement on Tuesday.
Brand’s representatives, who denied the positions of rape and sexual aggression, did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Tuesday.
Brand was accused of two positions of rape, two positions of sexual assault and a position of indecent aggression, the prosecutor of the chief crown of the crown of northern London, Jaswant Narkal, said on Friday. The charges are related to accusations of incidents from 1999 to 2005 that involve four women, he said.
He denied the accusations in a video on his social media platforms, including X, and said he intended to fight the charges.
“He was a fool before living in the Light of the Lord,” he said in the video. “I was a drug addict, a sex addict and a moron. But what I never was was a rapist. I have never involved in non -consensual sexual activities, I pray so you can see that looking in my eyes.”

The brand is scheduled to appear on New College of Florida for an interview on Saturday afternoon.
