Rod Stewart faces criticism after a video tribute of AI that represents Ozzy Osbourne taking selfies with other dead musicians was projected in his concert on Friday.
Stewart was acting “Forever Young” at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alphatta, Georgia, as part of his “One Last Time” tour when the video was shown on a large screen.
The video with Osbourne holding a selfie stick in what seems to be heaven, standing with other late artists. The video shows XXXTentacion, Prince, Tina Turner, Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse and Freddie Mercury.
The video clips circulated on the Internet and obtained criticism of many.
“‘Why is this disrespectful?’ I will use the AI to make a video of his dead grandmother who broke in the sky with Princess Diana and put it on a giant screen as part of my tour that people paid money to see and I will do it without their knowledge or permission, “wrote a commentator under a fragment of the video published on Instagram.
Some commentators suggested that the use of AI is connected to age. Stewart is 80 years old.
“Boomers love AI,” wrote the commentator. “You know someone like 65 is filming this on the other side of the place and crying.”
Some fans left comments on Stewart social media publications expressing their support for the video tribute.
“I loved the tribute in your concert,” wrote a fan under one of Stewart’s Instagram publications.
Another commentator, who said they were at the concert, called the tribute “of good taste and sincere.”
“I was impressed all the show and tribute,” the commentator wrote.
The representatives of Stewart and Osbourne did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
Stewart shared a publication on Instagram Memorializing Osbourne on the day his death was announced.
“Goodbye, goodbye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I will see you there, later instead of before,” said the statement.
Stewart continues his “one last” tour, with his next performance scheduled to be in Brandon, Mississippi.
