NEW DELHI: Bihar opposition leaders He joined a protest organized by All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) against the WAQF bill (amendment) in Gardanibagh in Patna on Wednesday.
The head of RJD, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the opposition of Bihar, Texashwi Yadav and the leader of Jan Suraj, Prashant Kishor, were seen participating in the protest.
Going to the meeting, Tejashwi Yadav said: “Our Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party, our Lalu Yadav leader, despite being sick … is here to support it.”
In addition, he assured that his party, together with Lalu Yadav, is firmly maintained with them in their fight against the WAQF bill “unconstitutional”.
“We do not care to be in power and we will strongly oppose this unconstitutional bill. We also oppose this bill in Parliament and the Assembly,” said the RJD leader.
“We want to tell you that we are with you on this issue. Our effort is that this bill should not be approved at any cost,” he added.
Meanwhile, the deputy of BJP and president of the JPC in the WAQF bill, Jagadambika Pal, accused AIMPLB of politicizing the issue through his national agitation.
“The way AIMPLB is doing politics in the name of WAQF, they are trying to deceive the country’s minorities and Muslims,” said Pal.
