Rebel News and other right -wing media dominated the questions of questions and answers with the leaders of the Federal Party after the debate of the French leaders on Wednesday, although not all obtained answers to their questions.
Liberal leader Mark Carney was the first leader to take 10 minutes of media questions after the debate, which took place in CBC/Radio-Canadá in Montreal.
The press conference is supervised by the leaders’ debate commission, an independent debate planning agency that establishes the criteria that the parties must meet so that their leaders participate in the event. The organization is also responsible for proving journalists who participate in the question and answers session after the debates.
While the debate was presented in a CBC/Radio-Canada building, the public broadcaster had no part in the organization of the questions of questions and answers that followed. He was responsible for choosing a place and producing debates for transmission.
The media members were aligned in two rows, one for questions in English and one for questions in French. The right -wing media stacked the long lines and managed to ask each of the leaders.
Carney received a question from a Juno News reporter who said that his campaign is based on putting the liberal leader at the front and “hiding” people who were close to former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In his answer, Carney described the “quite strange” question, but said his team includes new and experienced candidates.

The journalist then asked if Carney believed that biological women were entitled to their own spaces. Carney said that “as a general objective, yes” and that his government values all Canadians.
The leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh, who was the next to talk to journalists, refused to answer questions from rebel news representatives and said the organization disin as default.
When a second reporter from the same organization came to the microphone, Singh said: “You know where I am going to go with this, right?” Before repeating that I would not answer output questions.

Rebel News exerted legal pressure on the commission
Rebel News posted on its website on Wednesday that he had set up the legal pressure on the debates commission of the leaders to have greater access to obtain more questions to the leaders.
During the 2019 elections, Rebel News was one of the two media to win a judicial battle that finally allowed the accreditation to cover the leadership debate. Initially he was denied with the argument that Rebel News gets involved in defense.
It was a similar story before the debates of 2021 when a federal judge ordered the commission to let the Representatives of Rebel News cover the two televised events.
Poilievre, who followed Singh on Wednesday, asked rebels.
He said that his party is the only one willing to protect the freedom of the press, which represents freedom of expression and respects the right of Canadians to have access to the media they choose.

The debate of the leaders in French was abruptly reprogrammed to minimize a conflict with a Montreal Canadiens hockey game. In a statement, the Radio Canada debates commission and the leaders said they were “recognizing the passion of the Canadians for hockey” in their decision to move the debate.
Party leaders will face in an English debate on Thursday.
