In the action report taken (ATR) with respect to its previous recommendations, which was presented in Parliament last week, the panel said that a comprehensive revision of rates must be carried out to align the rates of the CA class with costs and guarantee gradual and affordable adjustments for classes that are not ac.
He said: “Railways should adopt a comprehensive and multiple strategy to improve net income while guaranteeing affordability for low -income passengers. This includes the implementation of dynamic prices models for air conditioning classes and premium trains, regularly review the schemes of flexible rates based on demand and expand non -task income through initiatives such as electronic auction policies, advertising and commercial use policies railway assets “.
The Committee added that to “balance social obligations,” railroads should continue with specific suburban and non -AC trips. He said, however, operational efficiency should be improved through accelerated electrification and energy efficiency technologies.
The Committee had granted similar recommendations in its first report on subsidy demands (2024-25) of the Railroad Ministry in December 2024.
According to the budget document, the income of all CA rates is approximately 72% of the full gains of passenger segments in 2024-25.
