Restaurant fire in Karachi’s Do Darya put out: Rescue 1122 – Pakistan

A fire that exploded on Wednesday in a restaurant in the Do Darya de Karachi area, phase 8 of the Defense Housing Authority, has been extinguished, according to a 1122 rescue official.

The rescue agency said in a statement that the fire was controlled, and added: “The cooling process is underway.”

Rescue-122 Officer Hassaan Khan said Dawn.com that the restaurant was not operational when the fire broke out. He added that initially, two fire tenders were sent, but “when they realized the seriousness of the problem, two more tenders were called.”

“The wooden structure of the restaurant allowed the fire to spread rapidly and remain persistent,” Khan said. “Four tenders managed to control the fire after agitated efforts, lasting an hour and a half.

“The structure was completely destroyed. However, the exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, ”he added.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of the South Police (DIG) Syed Asad Raza said the fire broke out in an abandoned restaurant in Darya, adding that the police immediately cordoned off the site of the incident.

“The restaurant has been closed during the last four or five years,” he said Dawn.com.

An earlier statement from the rescue agency said: “As soon as the central command and the rescue 1122 control received the information, the fire and rescue team along with the ambulance and the fire brigade truck reached the place,” he said The statement.

Meanwhile, the Edhi Foundation said in a statement that its ambulances and rescue team were present at the scene.

Last year, a fire broke out in Rimpa Plaza de Karachi in Ma Jinnah Road, without victims reports.

In a statement, Rescue 1122 said that his fire and rescue team, along with two ambulances, four fire trucks and a snorkeling, arrived at the site on December 3 as soon as they received an alert about the fire in Rimpa Plaza.

The fire began from the fourth floor of the 13 -story building, said the rescue service, adding that they faced difficulties to turn off the fire “due to inappropriate ventilation” in the building.

After a few hours of effort, the fire was extinguished successfully.

On December 19, 2024, another fire was reported in the same building. The fire exploded on the roof of the second floor, where disposable items were stored, said Rescue Spokesman 1122, Hassaan Khan.

He pointed out that the detention material, such as rubber, from the fire of December 3 was stored on the second floor, which caught fire again.
