Nueva Delhi: The legislators of Congress in Rajasthan continued their protest to sit within the state assembly during the night after the six MLA suspension of the party, including Govind Singh Dotsara. The suspension occurred after a protest in the house on Friday by the comments made by Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Avinash Gehlot about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The opposition leader in Rajasthan’s assembly, Tikaram Jully, said the discussions were held with three ministers on Friday night, but the conversations were not conclusive and the sitting protest continued.
“We demand that the minister withdraw his comment. There have been precedents where the words were eliminated, but the government itself does not want to direct the house, which leads to this problem,” Jully told reporters on Saturday.
The protest began after Gehlot, during the time of Friday’s question, commented to the opposition: “In the 2023-24 budget, as always, he named the scheme (in shelters of working women) after their ‘dadi’ (grandmother) Indira Gandhi “The comment caused a heated uproar in the house, which resulted in three postponements.
After chaos, the head of the Government, the whip, Jogeshwar Garg, moved a proposal to suspend the Mlas Govind Singh Dotasra, Ramkesh Meena, Amin Kagzi, Jakir Hussain, Hakam Ali and Sanjay Kumar Congress, which was approved by voice vote. The speaker then postponed the house until 11 in the morning on Monday.
In response, the MLA of Congress launched a protest sitting inside the assembly, refusing to leave and spend the night at home to continue its demonstration.
