Nueva Delhi: The leader of Congress, Rahul Gandhi, said on Saturday that the party needs to filter leaders and workers in Gujarat who are supposedly aligned with the BJP and warned a strict action with the possibility of eliminating the game.
Going to the workers of the party in Ahmedabad during their two -day visit to the State, it hinted at an important review before the 2027 assembly elections and assured a strong strategy to challenge the ruling BJP.
Gandhi said: “There are two types of people in the leadership of the Gujarat Congress and among the workers. Those who are honest with people, fight for them, respect them and have the ideology of Congress in their heart. And the others who are cut from the people feel far away, do not respect them or half of which are with the BJP. “
He said that the first task of the party should be to differentiate between these two groups. “Until these groups are separated, Gujarat people will not believe in the game,” he said, adding that even strict actions, including the expulsion of certain people, could be necessary.
Gandhi pointed out that Congress has been out of power in Gujarat for more than 30 years and said that recovering public confidence should have priority over electoral victories. “The question is not about elections. Unless we fulfill our responsibilities, the people of Gujarat will not let us win, ”he said, adding that once the party is connected again with public success, electoral success.
During his speech, Gandhi also criticized the state of the Gujarat industries, particularly the diamond, textile and ceramic sectors, which they were fighting. “Look at Gujarat farmers. They are screaming for a new vision. The vision of the last 20-25 years has failed, and Congress can easily provide this vision, ”he said.
Gandhi also recognized Gujarat’s historical role in the configuration of the congress and the Freedom Movement of India. He remembered the party workers that Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, two of the most influential leaders of Congress, came from the State. “Without Gandhi, Congress could not have obtained independence from the country,” he said.
Gandhi pointed out internal challenges within the party, stating that some Congress leaders were “chained” and needed to restore their connection with people. He encouraged party members to interact with citizens and understand their concerns. “We are here to listen to you,” he told the meeting.
In addition, he declared that Congress could return to power in Gujarat with a small increase in the participation of votes. “The opposition already has 40 percent of the votes in Gujarat. If we can increase our participation of votes in just 5 percent, the entire political equation will change, ”he explained, citing Telangana as an example in which the party increased its participation of votes by 22 percent.
BJP returns
BJP spokesman, Shehzad Poonowalla, criticized Rahul Gandhi, calling him the “greatest BJP asset” and mocking his comments on Congress workers. “His group has trolled himself. He tried to show himself. Such an honest reaction … Rahul Gandhi admits that he can’t win in Gujarat, unable to show the way, ”said Poonowalla.
Referring to Gandhi’s analogy comparing some Congress workers with racing horses forced to dance at weddings, Poonowalla questioned his choice of words. “Are the animals of the party workers? At least call the humans of the workers of their party. You are calling them horses, ”he said.
Bringing the social media platform X, Poonawalla attacked Gandhi, calling his “strange” comments and listing a series of questions. “Rahul Gandhi has demonstrated once again that it is the OG when it comes to strange comments … Mr. Titled Dynst, stop calling Ghoda” of Congress workers, they are human. Stop blaming others for their failures: first Evms, now party workers, who follows? The public? “He wrote. He also dug in the Electoral Registry of Gandhi, saying: “If half of the congress is ‘Gaddar’, what are you to make Congress lose more than 90 times?”
The deputy of BJP Rajya Sabha, Sudhanshu, Trivedi also criticized Gandhi, declaring: “When claiming his party, the people, constitutional institutions and the media, he has now begun to blame his own people. I will suggest that you do self -interrospecting instead of blaming others. “
The first day of his visit, Gandhi had met with party leaders and district presidents and block level to discuss strategies. His visit is ahead of the session of the Committee of the Congress of All India (AICC), scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad from April 8 to 9, the first session of this type in the state in 64 years.
In the elections of the Gujarat 2022 Assembly, Congress assured only 17 of 182 seats, and its strength then fell to 12 after five MLA resigned. Gandhi admitted that the game had not met Gujarat’s expectations in the last 30 years and promised corrective measures.
He concluded his address with a mixture of determination and humor, commenting on the hospitality of Gujarat. “Every time I come here, no matter how much try to control my weight, you take me to restaurants and serve delicious snacks, and I finish winning a kilo!” He joked, causing laughter of the audience.
