Quetta police arrested more than 100 protesters for violating a prohibition of meetings, allegedly closing the markets and blocking the roads, an officer said on Monday.
“More than 100 people were arrested under the positions of violating section 144, closing the markets and blocking the roads,” said Quetta police officer (SSP) Muhammad Baloch Dawn.com.
The arrests occur when six political parties of the opposition announced a complete strike of the wheel and the closing closure through Baluchistan to protest against the suicide bombing that attacked a public meeting of the National Party of Baluchistan-Mengal (BNP-M) on September 2 and claimed 15 lives.

Quetta’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with other commercial associations, had announced the closure of companies throughout the province in solidarity with the victims of suicide bombing. The Association of Private Schools also declared that all private schools, colleges and universities would remain closed.
