A year after six Quarterbacks flew outside the board on the first NFL draft round, the teams that assumed these risks are largely optimistic that march towards the 2025 season.
But the group of field marshal teams that are at the top of the draft next week may not be so lucky, since the teams and analysts do not seem as high in this harvest of perspectives as they were last year.
While Cam Ward in Miami, a finalist of the Heisman trophy, is the overwhelming favorite to first go to the Tennessee Titans, the perspective of the rest of the quartbacks seems muddy. That is largely because Field Marshal and needy teams spoke with their wallets this low season, distributing agreements to the day laborers and veterans of the late race instead of creating a drum around the writing of a quarterback of the future.
“If you are a team that needs a field marshal and Cam Ward is the best field marshal on your board, you must take it every time you choose,” said Bucky Brooks, a former player and analyst on the NFL NFL Net-Scouts-SCOUTS-SCOUTS-SCOUTS “But in terms of how these guys accumulate … I don’t think anyone in this class is a transcendent field marshal.”

“If a guy has tools, even if the successes is low, completely alters the capital of the draft that will be needed to get it,” he said, adding that the rules of the league that limit the rookie quartback contracts can potentially bring to a team a “crazy advantage.”
With Ward as the consensus selection No. 1, the media personalities and expert drafts are almost unanimously projecting Sanders of Colorado as a first round selection in its simulated drafts. Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss has also been gaining strength in recent weeks, and Milroe de Alabama is among the 17 players that the NFL says they will attend the draft in person.
Rogers sees Ward as a “selection of the 15 best” even in the scheduled field marshal draft class, which had Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. However, he sees Sanders as someone with talent to be taken in the back of the first round in a “desperate class like this.”
Dart and Milroe also have up highs, but Rogers suggested that they could need time to develop before starting at the NFL. Dart, he said, must feel more comfortable working from the center, and Milroe must improve his consistency by throwing the ball.
The NFL Network analyst and former professional explorer Daniel Jeremiah described a similar vision of Ward and Sanders in a call with journalists before the NFL exploration harvester. He said that his qualification for Ward coincides with the qualification prior to the draft that gave Bo Nix last year, the former field marshal of Auburn and Oregon and the twelfth general selection in 2024. And the Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 21) have been linked to Aaron Rodgers, the evergreen all-prore in the reduction of their career, although it is not clear if Rodgers will join them.
While it is possible that some of these teams finally choose quartbacks, the rush to underpin the position through free agency instead of the draft sends a clear message.
“The fact that teams tell you that they prefer to follow that path in a weak veteran market probably talks a lot about the draft,” Rogers said.
But even if there is concern, those field marshal do not have a high -end value, they will find houses.
