The Interior Department of Punjab launched a campaign to raise awareness about children’s safety.
According to the spokesman of the Department of Origin, the campaign called ‘Safe Children, Safe Punjab’ launched on the instructions of Punjab Prime Minister.
The statement said: “The Department of Origin launched the first episode of a special animation series to raise awareness about ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’.
“The campaign was launched to prevent minors’s sexual abuse.”
The statement also said that the series presented to the characters called Haya and Bahadur, who educate children about “good touch and bad touch”, with a message for children who indicate: “We will not be afraid of those who touch us badly.”
Educating children about personal security was the need for the time, according to the statement, and added that the series taught children about “appropriate and inappropriate physical behavior in a positive way.”
With adequate education and awareness, children can recognize and inform inappropriate behavior, he added.
In addition, he said that parents and teachers should teach children how to inform sexual abuse at home or outside.
The statement stressed that children who face sexual abuse can be traumatized for life, saying: “It is the responsibility of the State to protect children and take abusers to justice.”
The campaign will help protect children from abuse and sexual exploitation, he added.
According to the statement, the Secretary of the Interior of Punjab has ordered the Office of Child Protection and Welfare to carry out an awareness campaign for children.
The department had also written a letter to the Department of Education to include awareness of ‘good touch, bad tact’ in the curriculum.
The awareness campaign has been designed to keep future generations, according to the statement, added: “Be part of this awareness campaign to keep your children safe.”
Earlier this month, a civil society report revealed that 3,364 cases of child abuse from all over the country were reported in 2024. Children were more vulnerable to abuse in the age group of 11 to 15 years, in which more boys than girls were reported.
