Islamabad: The main opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI), has announced the boycott of the next partial elections of the Senate for the seat that was vacant due to the disqualification of the senator of the Ejaz Chaudhry party.
The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) has established on September 9 for surveys to fill the Punjab vacant seat.
According to the wing of the media, the announcement has been made by the expected candidate Salma Ejaz, wife of Mr. Ejaz. She has made it clear that she will not play partial elections, since she does not want to be part of the “fraudulent elections.”
Information from the central secretary of PTI Sheikh Waqas Akram said that founding president PTI Imran Khan has declared in his message that the members of the assemblies and senators affiliated with PTI have been unjustly imprisoned under the false pretext of the cases of May 9.
He also said that it will be an insult to them if the party decided to dispute the elections in seats that have been unoccupied due to their disqualification.
He said that, after receiving the message, the political committee of the party also decided that no candidate will be sent in any seat apart from the seat of Mian Azhar who has been unemployed after his death and his son Hammad Azhar will play the elections from there in Lahore.
“This decision gives a clear message that PTI will not accept any unfair or tax electoral process. The party is firmly with its workers and leaders and will continue its struggle in all circumstances,” said Waqas. According to media reports, the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League has awarded the ticket to the former Interior Minister, Rana Sanaulh Khan, for the seat.
