The PTI decided on Monday to participate in tomorrow’s meeting (Tuesday) in the camera of a parliamentary panel on national security to discuss the issue of terrorist attacks in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid strict security arrangements.
In recent months, both KP and Baluchistan have witnessed an increase in terrorist attacks, mainly attacking security forces, police and other law enforcement agencies. In the last two days, several police stations in KP have been attacked, which were successfully frustrated.
Meanwhile, last week, a dramatic show took place in Baluchistan with terrorists who kidnapped the Jaffar Express train and took hundreds of passengers as hostages. An operation to rescue passengers lasted two days.
The president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, convened the meeting for 11 am at the House of Parliament on Tuesday in the National Assembly Hall, which will attend parliamentary leaders of all the political parties represented in Parliament, along with their representatives.
“The session will meet under its presidency and will imply comprehensive information on the country’s security situation to the committee members,” according to a press release issued by the National Assembly Secretariat.
He added that military leadership would also inform the members of the Committee on the current security situation. In addition, the members of the cabinet would also participate in the meeting.
A statement from the National Assembly spokesman said there were strict security arrangements for the meeting and the law enforcement agencies were also alerted. He added that the media would not be allowed to access the Parliament building no one would be allowed to enter without a special invitation.
The PTI also confirmed its assistance after the head of PTI Whip at the National Assembly Malik Mohammad Amir Dogar sent a list to President Sadiq that contained the names of the party of 14 legislators who would attend the meeting, including the interim president of PTI, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Ayub Ayub, leader of the opposition in the Senate Shibli, and others.
