PTI MPA Anwar Zeb Khan says one injured after his Bajaur home targeted in ‘drone attack’

PTI MPA Anwar Zeb Khan has said that one person was injured after his house in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district was targeted by a “drone strike” last night, it emerged on Friday.

In a video statement posted on his social media account on Thursday, the provincial legislator said: “My house in Raghagan, Khar tehsil, was the target of a drone (quadcopter) attack by unknown persons this evening, injuring one of my security guards.”

Khan, who said he was in Peshawar at the time of the incident, strongly condemned the incident. He also identified the injured man as Zair Muhammad and said he was rushed to the district central hospital in Khar.

After the incident, police personnel arrived at the scene and began an investigation. However, local police have not yet issued any official statement regarding the nature of the incident and those responsible.

Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a statement condemned the incident, calling it an act of “anti-peace elements”.

According to the statement, CM Afridi directed the police and relevant authorities to provide an immediate report on the incident.

“The provincial government stands with the people and their elected representatives during this difficult time and will not tolerate these types of terrorist incidents,” the premier was quoted as saying in the statement.

Pakistan has witnessed a upturn in terrorist activities, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) term its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
