A bomb crossed the lobby of a luxury apartments block in Moscow on Monday, killing at least one person and wounding another four in an attack aimed at a pro-ruso paramilitary leader from eastern Ukraine, the state news agency reported Tass.
Armen Sarkisyan, a prel-ruso senior paramilitary leader of eastern Ukraine, died in the hospital on Monday after being seriously injured in the bomb explosion, said the Kommersant newspaper of Russia.
The bomb detonated just when a man with bodyguards entered the lobby of the “Scarlet Sail” complex on the shores of the Moskva River to only 12 km (7 miles) of the Kremlin, according to the Russian media.
Tass, citing the law application services, described the explosion as an “murder attempt” and identified the suspicious objective as Armen Sarkisyan, accused by Ukraine of helping Russia’s war effort in the Eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
Ria, another state news agency, cited the police saying that Sarkisyan was in a critical condition, and that part of his leg was being amputated.
“The attempted murder against Sarkisyan was carefully planned and ordered. The researchers are currently identifying those who ordered the crime, ”said Tass citing an official of the law.
Baza, a telegram channel with contacts in Russia’s security services, published a video that shows important damage to the building lobby. He said Sarkisyan had been seriously injured in the explosion. Reuters could not immediately confirm that report.

In December, the Ukraine SBU Security Service described Sarkisyan as a “chief of the crime” in the Donetsk region, much of which has been controlled by Moscow since 2014, and which was officially suspected of participating and helping ” illegal armed groups “.
He said he had formed a pro-ruse military training composed of local convicts and that he had organized supplies purchases for the first-line units.
In December, Ukraine attributed credit for the murder of Russian General Igor Kirillov in a bomb explosion outside an apartment building in Moscow. There were no immediate comments from Ukraine in the explosion of Monday.
