Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari met Sunday to discuss the challenges of political climate and security facing the country, and promised to consolidate the coalition bonus in the “national interest.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz met with President Zardari at Governor House in Lahore, where both leaders also discussed the next federal budget along with the political situation in the country.
“Political allies must advance together in national interest,” said an official statement citing Prime Minister Shehbaz.
He emphasized the need for unity among all partners of the coalition, including PML-N and PPP.
During the meeting, leaders conducted broad discussions on national matters, including the political and security situation prevailing in the country.

The participants also reviewed the result of the recent visit of the Prime Minister to the friendly nations and their importance for the foreign relations of Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by the president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the governor of Punjab, Sardar Salem Haider, and Senator Salem Mandviwalo.
Friendly budget for people
President Zardari, although highlighted the importance of public welfare, urged the government to take practical and impressive measures in the next budget to provide relief to the common man.
“The government must take measures in the next budget to provide relief to the common man,” he added.
A source of the PMO said that the prime minister also informed President Zardari about his visit to Quetta together with the head of the field of the Army Chief, also Munir, and his meeting with a great jirga of the elders of the different tribes and clans of Baluchistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed hope that the meeting with Jirga will say fruit and help to restore peace in the province.
Previously, Campo Munir Marshal, in his speech in Jirga, promised to “crush” terrorists in Baluchistan, stating that India’s participation in terrorist activities in the province “was no longer hidden”, administered by the State Pakistan radio reported on Sunday.
The Grand Jirga organized Quetta a day before to interact with tribal leadership and discuss the situation of evolutionary security in Baluchistan, with an focus on the terrorists who receive the support of India.
By reaffirming that the “nefarious designs of the enemy will fail”, the field marshal said that Pakistan has concrete evidence of India’s participation with terrorist networks in Baluchistan.
