The New Brunswick government will update the provincial situation of forest fires at 2:30 pm on Saturday.
The Prime Minister, Susan Holt, the Minister of Natural Resources, John Herron and the Minister of Justice Rob McKee, in the name of public security, will participate.
Roger Collet, a forest fire prevention officer, will also answer questions.
CBC will broadcast live broadcast.
As of Friday at midnight, the DNR postponed forest operations, such as harvesting, forwarding, slipping, scarification, chipping and slimming and precomcarcial cleanliness of all forested and private lands throughout the province.
The prohibition of forest operations will be in force until midnight on August 12, according to the statement.
Trucks, road construction and maintenance, vegetation management and planting trees are still allowed, the department said.
The entire province, including provincial parks, remains under a burn prohibition.
A forest fire that broke out at the beginning of the week in Oldfield Road, about 16 kilometers north of Miramichi, has grown to approximately 160 hectares, said Natural Resources Department of New Brunnswick, Nick Brown, in an email on Saturday morning.
“During the next few days, the province is expected to remain under extreme climatic conditions of fire, with high winds, high temperature and low humidity,” Brown said.
“It is a very dangerous situation with the state of fuels [ignitable materials in the forests]”
Two Quebec water bombing planes are helping with the continuous extinction operation, he said.
The fires that began on Friday in St. Paul and near Harvey are under control, “Brown said.
Highway 8 near Miramichi between Route 450 and Oldfield Road is currently closed, according to New Brunswick emergency measures. Russellville Road and Mchardy Road are also closed with amusements instead.
