PPP UC chairman shot dead in ‘suspected’ targeted attack in Karachi’s Orangi: police – Pakistan

A president of the PPP Union Council, Amir Abdul Kalam, was killed Thursday by armed motorcyclists in an alleged attack directed near Bismillah Chowk in the city of Orangi, police officers and rescue services said.

According to a police statement, Amir was sitting in his office in Gulshan-Zia when the armed riders opened indiscriminate shots and fled.

“He replied critical bullet injuries and was transferred to the Abasi Shaheed hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries during treatment,” the statement said.

The researchers have collected six spent plots of the crime scene.

Talking with Dawn.comThe police superintendent of the Karachi West district (SSP) Tariq Illahi Mastii said it seemed to be an objective murder incident.

“We are working on it to identify the real motive,” he said.

The general secretary of PPP Sindh, Waqar Mehdi and Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani visited the hospital.

Talking with Dawn.comMehdi said the victim was the president of the UC of his party in Orangi.

He said his local leader was very active in the area, adding that he was attacked.

Meanwhile, Karachi’s additional police inspector (AIGP) Javed Alam Odho realized the murder and ordered West SSP to present a detailed report in this regard, according to the statement.

Last month, a PPP leader was shot dead in an alleged attack directed in Dalmia.

In a separate incident during that month, a local leader of Jamiat Ulema-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was shot dead in an alleged attack directed in the city of Orangi.
