RCMP says that a vehicle involved in an accident that killed five people on Saturday night was the subject of an “extensive” search that night related to a deteriorated driving report.
On Saturday around 11:12 pm, a Honda Civic and a Nissan Sentra collided on highway 101 between Hatesport, NS and Falmouth, about 1.5 kilometers from exit 7. Five people died in the accident and a person was seriously injured.
Police say that the Civic was going in the wrong direction in the lanes to the east of the twin section of the road.
In a press release on Monday afternoon, RCMP said that RCMP of the Kings district responded to a possible call of deteriorated driver at 7:20 pm involving the Honda Civic himself.
The vehicle was last seen in a restaurant on highway 1 near the 11600 block in Grand Pré, but despite an extensive car search by several officers in the counties of Kings and West Hants, the police did not locate it.
RCMP is asking the public to identify where the vehicle was before 7:20 pm and before the accident.
The car is a Honda Civic 2014 2014 with the HLF590 registration.
Any person with information about the vehicle, or with Dashcam images of the area before the collision, must call West Hants District RCMP at 902-798-2207, or Crime Stoppers.
