Police arrested three suspects on Monday who allegedly violated a woman last week in the Bakot area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abbottabad district, entering action after the incident caused the outrage of social networks.
Abbottabad Police spokesman Azam Mir Aphzal Dawn.com that the suspects had supposedly raped a woman from Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
“The district police officer (DPO) Umar Tufail took measures and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects after the incident stood out on social networks, including Facebook and Tiktok,” said spokesman AFZAL.
He added that the officer of the house of the Bakot station (Sho), Arshad Khan, was sent to the village, where the local community had also found angry at the incident.
On the complaint of the Sho, a first information report (FIR) was presented at the Bakot Police station yesterday under sections 34 (facts made by several people in common intention), 375a (rape) and 376 (Punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Criminal Code.
According to the FIR, a copy of which is available with Dawn.comPolice arrested the suspect who owned the house where the woman was supposedly raped by him and her friends.
The FIR added that one of the suspects led the woman to her friend’s house in her car from Rawalpindi, where he and her friends raped her, one after another. In his statement, the owner confessed to commit the crime and at the same time identify his two accomplices.
Police declared in the FIR that the accomplices were also arrested, while a search for the victim continued and the investigation was underway.
Despite the presence of laws against violation, with punishment for violation, whether it results in the death penalty or imprisonment between 10 and 25 years, cases continue to prevail in the country.
