The conservative leader Pierre Poilievre wants the federal government to discard its temporary program of foreign workers, saying that it has flooded the market with cheap labor and it was more difficult for Canadian young people to find work.
The plan would imply maintaining the immigration current for agricultural workers

The conservative leader Pierre Poilievre wants the federal government to eliminate the temporary program of foreign workers, saying that it has flooded the market with cheap labor and has made it difficult for young Canadians to find work.
“Liberals have to answer: ‘Why are they closing our own young people without work and replacing them with low -salary temporary workers from poor countries that are finally being exploited,” said Pailievre in Mississauga on Wednesday.
Conservatives say that while they want the Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFW), they will create a separate and independent program for legitimately difficult agricultural work.
“Not long ago, young Canadians could obtain vital skills in entry level, gain enough to pay school and build a future,” said deputy Michelle Rempel Garner in a statement. “In return, employers built a qualified domestic workforce. But the liberals broke that agreement.”
Poilievre says that guilt does not fall on the temporary foreign workers themselves, but with the liberal government and the “liberal corporate elites” that are exploiting these workers to enrich themselves.
