PML-N’s Hina Arshad secures Punjab Assembly seat in Sialkot polls marred by rigging claims – Pakistan

Hina Arshad Warraich of PML-N assured a seat of the Punjab Assembly (PP-52) in Sialkot for a wide margin in the midst of accusations of PTI’s rig, according to the preliminary results issued by the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) on Monday.

The partial choice for PP-52 (Sambrial) took place yesterday, two months after the seat had fallen vacant after the disappearance of PML-N MPA Arshad Javed Warraich, father of the winning candidate.

Analysts were waiting for a difficulty one to one between the PML-N ruler and the applicants backed by PTI, while the PPP had also carried out an aggressive campaign in Sambrial to work better in the race.

According to form 47 issued by the ECP today and signed by the officer returning Muhammad Iqbal, Warraich assured the seat by winning 78,702 votes.

The main opponent of Warraich, Fakhar Nishat Guman, who was an independent candidate backed by the PTI, was the runner -up with 39,018 votes.

Raheel Kamran Chema de PPP took third place with 6,832 ballots cast in his favor, followed by Muhammad Shafqat of Tehreek-I-Labbaik Pakistan with 4,851 votes.

The vote remained Pacific throughout yesterday, except for the verbal arguments between the supporters of PTI and the Police in some electoral centers of a total of 185.

PTI spokesman Sheikh Waqqas Akram accused the Punjab government and the police to interfere with partial elections, claiming that their voting agents were expelled from the electoral centers. The former ruling party also claimed to have “Video evidence of the rig”.

However, the provincial commissioner Sharifullah, in a statement, denied these accusations. He said that the voting process continued in the 185 electoral centrals without any interruption until 5 PM said that the Electoral Commission would review any complaint about irregularities if it was provided properly.

The local administration, apparently for security reasons, had placed containers in front of the RO office, a movement criticized by the PTI and the PPP, which also organized a sitting in front of the office in Sambrial.

The leader of the PPP and former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also added to the accusations of PTI rigging.

In statements to the media in Sambria, yesterday, flanked by the secretary general of PPP Punjab, Hassan Murtaza, Ashraf said that the voting stations had closed in several areas by the administration.

The former private said that if the results were changed, it would be unfortunate, and added that it would not be a good omen for the government. He said it was not tolerable that the rig took place during the partial elections.

The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) had established 185 electoral centers, classifying 11 as highly sensitive, 38 as sensitive and 136 as normal. A total of 1,696 officers and personnel had been deployed to perform electoral tasks in these stations.

The total number of voters recorded in PP-52 was 297,185, including 157,725 male and 139,460 female voters.

The electoral participation was recorded as 44.79 percent, with a total of 133,096 tickets issued, of which 130,837 were counted as presented in the right way.
