The Federal Minister of the Power and Energy Division, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, said Thursday that a new tariff policy, which the industries are expected to be more competitive, will soon be announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz approved an Comprehensive Five Years Tariff Reform Plan that will be announced in the 2025-26 federal budget, with the aim of drastically reducing customs tasks, additional customs tasks, regulatory tasks on raw materials and semi-infined products, and a gradual reduction of general protections for select industries.

When heading to an energy workshop in Islamabad today, the Federal Minister said: “The Government has reduced the energy price for industries by more than 30 percent in the last year.”
The minister mentioned the plan to privatize energy distribution companies, added that the decrease in his losses was encouraging.
He said that the government was focusing on renewable energy and that they have closed three thousand megawatts of plants based on oven oil in recent months.
Leghari said that twenty -seven thousand wells of agricultural tubes in Baluchistan will change to solar energy in the next two or three months.
