PM Shehbaz orders ensuring steady gas supply to domestic users during winters – Business

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday directed authorities to promptly ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to domestic consumers during the winter season. Radio Pakistan reported.

Many consumers have faced gas supply shortages in different parts of the country amid increasingly cold weather.

Last week, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon expressed concern over the reduction in gas load in the province, saying it had reached an alarming level and people were facing serious difficulties due to gas shortage. which was negatively affecting daily life and industrial activities.

Chairing a review meeting in Islamabad today on the gas supply situation across the country, the Prime Minister took note of complaints regarding reduction in gas supply to domestic consumers and ordered reforms in the supply system to resolve the problem permanently.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that supplying gas to domestic consumers remains the government’s top priority.

It was informed that there were surpluses of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the system, which made it possible to improve gas load management compared to last year.

During the meeting, it was stated that the duration of gas load shedding was shorter this year as “domestic consumers will receive gas from 5 am to 10 pm every day.” Radio Pakistan reported.

He added that at the meeting it was reported that the supply of gas to the electricity sector was being carried out “according to demand.”

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) have online dashboards in place to address consumer complaints, with a complaint resolution rate of 93 per cent and 79 per cent respectively, the report states. He further stated that all the gas fields in the country were fully operational.

The meeting was attended by Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal and senior government officials.
