Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed the hope of “encouraging” the results of the meeting of US President Donald Trump with Muslim leaders in Washington earlier this week, where the US state chief presented his plan to end the invasion of Israel to Gaza.
“We fully participate in the meeting on Gaza, and may God want, his encouraging results will come out soon,” he said, flanked by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, while heading to Pakistani abroad in the high commission of London.
He also expressed anguish for the situation in Gaza, which has been subjected to the Israeli onslaught since October 2023, and prayed so that the cruelty and barbarism that occurs there ends soon.
The Trump meeting with Muslim leaders outside the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York had brought together Pakistan leaders, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Turkiye and Indonesia.
Before formal consultations, Trump told his guests: “We have to recover hostages … This is the group that can do it, more than any other group in the world … so it is an honor to be with you.”
Trump also emphasized the urgency of finishing the conflict: “We had 32 meetings here, this is the one that is very important because we will end something that probably should never have begun.”
According to Israel’s reports Channel 12 and based in the United States AxiosPresident Trump’s plan provides for a high immediate fire and the release of hostages, both living and deceased; Israeli withdrawal in stages of Gaza’s governance, excluding Hamas but incorporating the Palestinian authority; Deployment of Arab and Muslim peace forces to ensure Gaza and facilitate the withdrawal of Israel; and reconstruction and transition programs of international support funded by regional taxpayers.
According to reports, these details were shared with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, although Israel did not write the plan.
Dar, who also attended the meeting with Trump, also expressed the hope of positive results of the meeting, saying that once these results materialized, “we will share them with the nation.”
He also said that follow -up communications after the meeting went until last night.
Previously during the talk, Prime Minister Shehbaz also referred to his commitments in New York, where he directed the Pakistan delegation at the 80th session of the Unga. He said that his speech in the Unga was a reflection of the feelings of the Pakistani and that he fought against the case of Kashmir occupied by India there.
The prime minister also mentioned his bilateral meeting with Trump in Washington during the recent trip of the United States, saying that it was a “productive” and “constructive” commitment.
“He remained in a conducive environment,” he said, adding that he hoped would help even more the ties of Pakistan-United States.
