PM Shehbaz calls recovery of Rs34bn by FBR historic – Business

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting on Tax Affairs on Saturday was reported that he had recently recovered an amount of RS34.5 billion by the Federal Income Board (FBR).

The recovery of the amount within 24 hours after the decision was commendable, said the prime minister, saying that the result showed that if there was hard work and dedication, then the success was attainable.

Calling the recovery of RS34.5bn a historical achievement, Prime Minister Shehbaz said it was a good start.

“We have to form a sustainable system permanently,” he said, adding, “we have to solve decades of problems working together.”

The prime minister said that a comprehensive legal structure for FBR recoveries must be formed and that a plan to guarantee FBR reforms and the implementation of tax laws is presented.

He said a plan should also be prepared for the improvement of FBB’s labor. The system could be improved with 100 percent digitalization, third -party validation and continuous monitoring, he added.

The prime minister emphasized that the complete action should begin against those officers and personnel who were involved in any type of misappropriation.

The stimulus of those who worked well must ensure, he continued.

The prime minister was also informed about fiscal cases waiting for decisions in the courts, as well as the steps taken for the recovery of money through these cases.

The president of FBR reported the meeting on the reforms of the Office Law Law, a digital algorithm for fiscal evaluation, the performance of fiscal officers and the general reforms of FBR.
