Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched on Sunday the first national anti-political campaign of the year, which extends from February 3 to 9, managing polio falls to children under five years of age and promising to eradicate the country’s disease.
Pakistan is one of the last two countries in the world, along with Afghanistan, where polyomyelitis remains endemic. Despite global efforts to eradicate virus, challenges such as safety problems, vaccine vaccine and erroneous information have slowed progress.
Last year, the country reported more than 70 cases of polyomyelitis, with the virus detected in around 90 districts. This year, the first case was reported in the district of Ismail Khan by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
When addressing the launching ceremony of the anti-political impulse today, the prime minister reaffirmed his determination to eliminate Pakistan’s disease.

The prime minister expected the dedicated teams to work “day and night to eradicate the disease, and would reach remote areas and villages,” he added that these teams would successfully fulfill the great responsibility by “using their complete energies.”
The prime minister said that unfortunately, during the last year, a total of 77 cases of polio were reported in the country that emerged as a great challenge, in addition to raising a setback.
In the first case for the year reported last month, the prime minister expressed a resolution to eradicate polyomyelitis at all costs; with dedicated teamwork and support from international partners.
The prime minister also expressed the hope that with international coordination and support, paralyzing disease in the fraternal neighborhood Afghanistan would end.
He appreciated all international partners, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Bill Gates Foundation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their commitment and efforts for the Government in their efforts to eliminate polyomyelitis.
Poly is a paralyzing disease that has no cure. The multiple doses of the polyomyelitis vaccine and the completion of the routine vaccination program for all children under five are essential to provide children with a high immunity against this terrible disease.
