A small plane crash near the airport in Lillooet, BC, has claimed the life of a pilot, according to the police.
In a statement, Lillooet RCMP said the officers were notified of the accident at 5:17 PM PT on Wednesday. The emergency teams arrived to find the pilot, the only occupant of the aircraft, unconscious and suffers a potentially deadly injury.
CPL. Madonna Saunderson, a spokeswoman for the Northern District of BC RCMP, said that despite the immediate efforts of saving lives, the pilot was declared dead in the scene.
The Canada Transport Security Board (TSB) confirmed Thursday that a team of researchers for Lillooet has deployed.
The agency said that the accident involved a private Bushmaster plane, but did not provide any additional details.
Lillooet is about 250 kilometers northeast from Vancouver.
