The Sindh government on Thursday made all heavy vehicles in Karachi have a physical conditioning certificate amid the increase in the number of traffic accidents involving Dumper trucks.
The decision occurred after a high -level meeting chaired by Sindh Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, to discuss the alarming number of traffic accidents in the metropolis and subsequent criticisms against the authorities for negligence.
Last week, the provincial government had banned the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the day, only allowing them to operate from 11 pm to 6 am, however, exemptions were granted to trucks that transport water, oil products, medicines, medicines, Meat and other essential goods.
When heading to a press conference after today’s meeting, Sindh’s Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said: “The provincial government will ensure that all heavy vehicles made by the roads carry a certificate of conditioning physical”.
He added that the Transportation Department will issue the physical conditioning certificate and barcodes will be delivered to all registered vehicles.
“The Karachi Water & Seweege (KWSC) corporation will also provide bar codes to its water tank trucks and issue physical conditioning certificates,” said Memon, and added that all heavy vehicles will have 30 days to receive the conditioning certificate physical or will not be allowed on roads.
Memon said heavy vehicles from other provinces should have a physical conditioning certificate issued by the Sindh government, stating that the Punjab government had issued similar rules that will be strictly implemented in the province now.
Regarding the complaints that the vehicle numbers plates were not issued in time, he said: “The Special Tax Department has 80,000 numbers that have not been collected. There are only two motorized vehicle inspectors in the province and the number increases. ”
The minister said that the Sindh Assembly had approved a law according to which an unregistered vehicle cannot be sold by an owner or agent of a car exposure room. He warned that any vehicle not registered on the road will be confiscated and the exhibition hall that sold the vehicle will be sealed.
He urged the owners of the exhibition hall to implement the law and sell their vehicles after registering them.
Memon added that the owners or agents of the exhibition room can buy vehicles for investment that is placed only in car transporters. “The owners and agents of the Automobile Exhibition Room cannot sell a vehicle before registering it,” he announced.
With respect to imported vehicles, he said that those in the province will be registered, while vehicles for other provinces can only be transported in car transporters.
Meeting of Presidents of CM Sindh on the issue
Taking into account the traffic problems and the increase in the number of traffic accidents that have charged at least nine lives and caused protests in Karachi, CM Shah presided over a high -level meeting today and issued directives to take immediate measures, a statement from the spokesman House said.
According to the statement, the meeting included Memon, the local government minister Saeed Ghani, the Minister of Special Taxes Mikesh Chawla, Interior Home Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjar, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and other officials.
“During the meeting, several important decisions were made regarding the aptitude of the vehicle and traffic management,” the statement said. The main minister issued instructions to the Special Tax Department, the local government, the Traffic Police and the District Police through the Police Chief.
Recent accidents have caused generalized protests against the Transit Police for allowing movement without obstacles of the dump trucks during the day. The opposition matches, including the Muttahida Qaumi, Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamaat-I-Islami movement have requested restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles to avoid the greatest loss of precious lives.
Governor Kamran Tessori expressed his anger for the growing fatal accidents and the movement without control of heavy traffic and urged the government of Sindh, the ministers and the police to take measures.
Ahmed Ahmed de MQM-H arrested by incitement
Earlier this week, the president of MQM-HAQIQI, AFAQ AHMED, was arrested for vandalism and fire charges caused by allegedly inciting protesters to attack heavy vehicles.
The Sindh Ig Ghulam Nabi Memon police said the MQM-H chief was arrested for charges of “instigating people to set fire to heavy vehicles in the metropolis.” He was presented in the Court and sent to the Jail in Judicial Prison.
On Monday, Ahmed had held a press conference and asked young people to “prepare” and “assume responsibilities” instead of depending on the government’s promise to implement the prohibition of the movement of heavy vehicles during the day.
Shortly after, in what seemed to be acts of vigilant justice, unknown people set fire to four heavy vehicles in the city. The police said that a trailer, two water tankers and a dump truck were attacked in the areas of Landhi, Awami Colony, Arrejani Town and Sharifabad and set fire.
The carriers and owners went out after the loss of their vehicles and blocked the national road in Bin Qasim and Northern Bypass in protest of the violent incidents.
