The Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) granted a protective bond to the leaders of PTI Shibli Faraz and Sartaj Gul Wazir on Wednesday until August 11.
The ECP on Tuesday disqualified Tuesday as the opposition leader of the Senate, Omar Ayub, as the equivalent of the National Assembly, then Mnas Wazir and the head of the Sunita Ittehad, Hamid Raza Council, and other PTI legislators after their convictions in cases related to the disturbances of May 9.
On May 9, 2023, PTI supporters, protesting the arrest of the founder of the Imran Khan party, organized violent protests throughout the country, destroying military facilities and state buildings, while attacked the residence of the commander of Lahore’s body. After the riots, thousands of protesters, including party leaders, were arrested.
Last week, an anti -terrorism court in Faisalabad sentenced the 100 leaders and workers of PTI to the terms of the prison of up to 10 years in relation to the riots. Faraz, Sartaj Gul and the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, were among those who were granted rigorous imprisonment.
A PHC bank from two judges comprising Judges Arshad Ali and Farah Jamshed held a hearing for Faraz and Gul bail requests.
The bank gave them a protective bond until August 11 and ordered them to appear before the Superior Court in question on that date and submit their appeals.
Faraz and Ayub also presented PHC writing requests that challenged the ECP disqualification order.
A previous day, Ayub criticized the “False verdict” of the ATC in an X post, saying that it would dispute it and the disqualification of the ECP in court.
He also published a video of himself in the PHC with other leaders and lawyers of PTI, saying that the court had given him a few days and that he would be granted bail when presenting his appeal.
